Small Changes, Big Results
Life got a little hectic this past weekend with back-to-back kids’ soccer games, so I didn’t get to post daily updates as planned. But I’m back now and ready to share what I’ve learned over the last few days of my detox journey!

The Power of a Cleaner Diet
One of the biggest takeaways so far is that I can absolutely support my gut health without the need for a diagnosis or a prescription. This whole experience has shown me just how much diet and lifestyle changes can make a difference.
I’ve focused on eating cleaner foods, and making some key adjustments. For example, I started making my own salad dressings—something I never took the time to do before. It turns out that many store-bought dressings are loaded with sugars, preservatives, and other additives that aren’t so friendly to the body. By preparing my own, I’ve been able to control exactly what goes in them, and I can tell it’s making a difference.
Eliminating Artificial Sweeteners
Another major change was cutting out a large amount of artificial sweeteners that I’d been consuming under the assumption that they were a “healthier” alternative to sugar. The reality is, they’ve been doing more harm than good. Artificial sweeteners can mess with your gut microbiome, and the effects were more noticeable than I realized. With this detox, I’m working on reducing the dependency on them, and so far, it’s been an eye-opener.
Parasite Cleanse Update
On Monday, my parasite cleanse arrived! I’ve been adding the drops to every drink for the past two days. At this point, I don’t have much to report, but I’ll definitely keep you updated as I continue. I’m excited to see how it’ll impact my energy, digestion, and overall wellness, so stay tuned for more on this in future updates!
IV Hydration Boost: The Nutrients Behind the Bag
This week, I also treated myself to two rounds of IV hydration, which were packed with a powerful blend of nutrients: Vitamin C, glutathione, zinc, B12, and magnesium. Since I’m a wellness nurse, I’m pretty familiar with the science behind these nutrients, but I wanted to take advantage of the benefits directly. Here’s why these particular nutrients are so helpful during a detox:
Vitamin C: A powerhouse antioxidant, Vitamin C supports immune function, helps with collagen production for skin health, and plays a key role in neutralizing free radicals that cause oxidative stress. It’s also vital for the production of adrenal hormones, which support your body during stressful times (like detoxing).
Glutathione: Known as the "master antioxidant," glutathione is critical for detoxification at the cellular level. It helps neutralize toxins and heavy metals in the body, supports liver function, and aids in the regeneration of other antioxidants like Vitamin C. It’s particularly helpful in detox periods when your body needs an extra boost to eliminate harmful substances.
Zinc: Zinc supports immune health, promotes wound healing, and is involved in hundreds of essential enzymes in the body. During detox, zinc helps maintain a healthy gut and supports digestion and absorption of nutrients, which can be affected as the body clears out toxins.
Vitamin B12: This vitamin is essential for energy production, nerve function, and the formation of red blood cells. If you’re feeling fatigued or a little sluggish during a detox, B12 can give you the energy lift you need. It also plays a role in supporting the nervous system during times of stress.
Magnesium: Often called the “relaxation mineral,” magnesium helps to calm the nervous system, improve sleep quality, and regulate blood pressure. It also plays a role in over 300 biochemical reactions, including muscle function and the regulation of blood sugar levels, which is particularly important when detoxing.
How I’m Feeling Now
Overall, the detox has been a learning process, and the small changes I’ve made are really starting to add up. The increase in energy and improved sleep from the hydration therapy has been a huge win. My body feels less bloated, and I feel more rested and awake throughout the day.
I’m still in the early stages of my cleanse and looking forward to seeing what the next few days bring. I’ll be sure to keep you posted on the progress!
Tips for Anyone Starting a Similar Detox:
Start Small: You don’t have to do everything at once. Begin by tweaking your diet and slowly cutting out processed foods.
Hydration is Key: Whether it’s through food, water, or even IV hydration, keeping your body hydrated helps with detoxing and boosts energy.
Listen to Your Body: Be mindful of how you feel throughout the process and make adjustments as needed.
